About SCATT
The SunCoast Area Teacher Training Honors Program (SCATT) was founded by an act of the Florida Legislature in 1981 on the premise that our prospective teachers are the key to influencing the future of our society! The SCATT program is designed to attract and retain the best and the brightest in education. Over the years, more than 8,000 students have graduated from our pre-service teacher preparation program, become graduate clinical teachers or have attended our support program for teachers seeking certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. SCATT has been documented to be the best known program in the USF's College of Education.
SCATT is distinctive because students voluntarily participate in extensive educational workshops and seminars, which are in addition to the coursework required by their core program, in order to graduate with SCATT honors credentials. SCATT is free to undergraduates and graduate students who want to be the best educators they can be and are willing to go above and beyond the fine offerings of the College to participate in additional research based, cutting edge training. The program is offered across all departments to pre-service education students, regardless of major. These seminars are offered without credit, yet students continue to attend because of the quality of their experience.
